The Cold Equations

A new opera based on Tom Godwin's classic, 1953, science fiction short story, "The Cold Equations", originally published in Astounding Magazine. The libretto has been adapted by Nigel Lucas McBain. Rights for transforming this classic story of science fiction have been secured from the publisher. The opera is one hour and twenty minutes in duration. It requires seven singers. It utilises one set, which is divided into a main stage section, two side sections and one sub-section. The orchestration is of Mozartian size.
